About Judy

Judy has over 30 years of experience as a professional organizer and design consultant, having specialized in making the most of cramped NYC apartment and office space before relocating to New Jersey.  She works together with you to re-think the way you use your space to create a customized plan to meet your needs, style, and vision.  She quickly assesses the situation, and begins to provide ideas that can be implemented by the client alone, by her alone, or both together. Her philosophy is to honor her clients' sense of style and use as many of their existing furnishings as possible (some in completely new ways). For those who are unsure, she helps them define their style. (Sense of humor is complimentary.)

Simple solutions that stay within clients' budgets are important to her, as she arrives at individual solutions to clutter, storage and design problems, including controlling that paper monster. Judy feels strongly that your home should be your sanctuary, your office someplace you look forward to spending time in and conducive to working. And that all solutions should be adapted to the particular habits and ways of thinking of the residents or office staff, to ensure easier compliance with the new plan.  In other words, it's YOUR plan, not a cookie-cutter one-size-fits-all solution. Which would be no solution at all.

Her services include monthly or weekly visits as needed to keep the paper and clutter under control; hands-on cleaning out and organizing of garage or home space; re-design of homes, business offices, and filing systems; color consultations; showcasing artwork and treasures; arranging furniture for happier and more relaxed enjoyment of your home; walk-through consultations during which the clients usually choose to take copious notes; and organizing any project — small or large — you need help with.

Her practical ("Mrs. Handyman") knowledge will help you to create a more safe environment, and a better-insulated space. She especially enjoys how her skills mesh as a designer/organizer/ handywoman/home-interior-inspector. (See the Services page for more information on specialty areas such as Insulation and Safety Review, Home Repairs Overview, and Second Opinion on Additions & Building.

Judy's corporate and government experience in project management, special events planning, marketing and public relations (link, then scroll down) helps her to better identify problems and seek the right solutions. Her 40 years of professional experience working with fabrics & color (both in the home and for the stage) contributes to her unique decorating and window treatment ideas that will enhance your home or office while providing the privacy you need.

Her television appearances include being featured as an expert on "Regis & Kathie Lee". She has taught at The Learning Annex in NYC, the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School, the Adult School of the Chathams, Madison and Florham Park, and has guest-lectured at The New School University, Chambers of Commerce, real estate offices, corporate offices and wellness groups.

Judy studied interior design at Parsons, fashion at FIT, and website design and desktop publishing (among others) at The New School University. She has a BA from the University of Connecticut, and is a member of both the NYC IATSE Wardrobe Union Local 764 and American Federation of Musicians Local 802 in NYC.

She has written professionally for over 30 years. Her most recently published articles on organizing and de-cluttering have appeared in newspapers Allegro (NYC Musicians' Union) and the News-Record of Maplewood-South Orange (NJ).

Judy is the winner of the 1999 Platinum (highest-level) award for Crisis Management from Habitat, the metro area's premier coop-condo magazine.  Other honors she has received include Honorable Mention in a Collins & Aikman contest for fashion designers (while a secretary); and the 2¸me degrˇ in the French language and a 1¸re Accessite in Fl˛te from the French government.

Her flute performances have included Lincoln Center, St. Peter's Church, and the Nicholas Roerich Museum (all in NYC); churches in Rouen, France; soloing with the Young Artists Philharmonic (1968 and 2000, Stamford, CT); the Ridgewood (NJ) G&S Players; the Two Towns in Harmony Project (2005, South Orange-Maplewood, NJ), and for various memorial services in NY and New England.  She continues to perform in the New York metropolitan area when her schedule allows, and has recently formed a flute quartet in New Jersey.

Judy enjoys creating her own whimsically-designed line of "Color-Mix Crochet" -- mostly hats, but purses and scarves as well, which she sells through boutiques and crafts fairs.
